Factory Tour
![]() | Insulation Now its time for insulating the rest of the interior. Remember when we were in the chassis area and saw Gary installing the water tanks and floor? Well here we use the same 2 1/2 inch thick batten fiberglass insulation. It's carefully placed throughout the shell's entire inside body. |
![]() | Wiring The next steps involve pulling the wiring into place and hand riveting the interior aluminum skin to the exterior shell. After the skin is in place, the wiring is pulled to the proper location and the windows, doors, and vents are trimmed out. Finally, an insulating, vinyl wall liner is glued to the aluminum interior skin. This configuration forms a barrier to extreme changes in the temperature of the skin, preventing condensation and adding comfort. You keep your Airstream just the way you like it — warm in the winter and cool in the summer. |
![]() | Final Shell Checks Now that the interior shell is complete, an inspector examines the interior shell and electrical system. Al is using that high-voltage electrical device to check all of the electrical outlets and connections before the interior furniture and appliances are installed. |
