![]() | Cabinet Making Moving on to the woodshop, we'll see where Airstream constructs the galley cabinets, wardrobes, lavy cabinets, dinettes, roof lockers, and all of the other furniture that goes inside Airstreams. Our furniture makers are truly artisans. They handcraft and assemble all of the trailer's furniture in our woodshop. Their old world sensibilities would never allow them to use cookie cutter techniques they sometimes see around. |
![]() | Q: I thought they built the furniture inside the Airstream. How do they get it into the trailer? A: All of the furniture made here is designed to fit through the trailer's door. This technique is a bit more labor intensive, however the increased serviceability for our customers and dealers is well worth the effort. |
![]() | The panels, face frames, drawers, solid wood trim, and Corian® tops are sanded, glued, and finished as needed. Once that's completed, the raw wood is stained and a polyurethane finish is applied. We know Airstreamers take their trailers to all kinds of places. Sand, mud, dirt, water, and just about anything you can imagine can get on the furniture and cabinets. That's why we've made sure the interior can be cleaned up to look good as new — even after the longest, roughest, and toughest caravan. |
