For many years, Scott and Lise Scheuermann have spent summers on the road. "This is our time to reconnect and explore together. My family always looks forward to our time in the Airstream." This is something that Scott knows a little about, since he was raised using his grandparents' 1960 Airstream Overlander for family vacations. Scott is carrying the tradition on into the fourth generation, in the same 1960 Overlander he originally enjoyed as a child. When Scheuermann's grandfather became too old to drive, he gave the trailer to his daughter, Scott's mother. When Scott's parents eventually bought a new trailer, they intended to sell the Overlander. Scott, just out of college around 1988, was crestfallen about the idea of losing his treasured vacation "home on the road." Scott eventually convinced his parents he was serious about keeping the unit. As a result his parents gave him the treasured Overlander. Scott enjoyed the trailer on his own, and then traveled with his wife Lise. Now they share this tradition with their children-Steven and Sara. "A lot of who I am and what I like to do was discovered during my times using the trailer. I love to see this wonderful country. I like getting on the back roads and seeing how other people live. I just wish we had an odometer and could tell exactly how many miles we've gone in this Airstream," says Scott. "We've crisscrossed the United States more times than I can reliably count. We continue to attempt to wear the trailer out. Perhaps my son will get the job done." Airstream is totally integrated into the Scheuermann's lifestyle.
