Every Airstream is built and upfitted by hand by skilled craftspeople who believe that our responsibility extends beyond the products we build. We believe in investing in their communities, which Airstream also calls home.
Responsible by Design
For almost 90 years, Airstream has been helping people discover the world and themselves. We cherish our place in the sprawling, diverse outdoor adventure eco-system and understand our responsibility to the people and places that make up this special community. That responsibility extends to the wider world.
Our purpose is to bring people together in the experience of exploration and adventure. We strive to uphold our promises to both people and nature in every aspect of the Airstream experience – at the factory, on the road, and at the campsite.

For all Airstreams made in 2021, we will plant enough trees to neutralize the estimated carbon emitted from driving your Airstream during the first year of ownership.
Purchase a Carbon Reduction Kit
A tax-deductible purchase of a Carbon Reduction Kit not only helps reduce the environmental impact of thousands of miles of travel, but also directly supports the NFF's tree-planting efforts.

Our Journey
A Letter from the CEO
For almost 90 years, Airstream has been helping people discover the world and themselves. We cherish our place in the sprawling, diverse outdoor adventure eco-system and understand our responsibility to the people and places that make up this special community and to the wider world.
Our purpose is to bring people together in the experience of exploration and adventure. We strive to uphold our promises to both people and nature in every aspect of the Airstream experience – at our factory, on the road, and at the campsite.
That commitment is reflected in every Airstream ever built. Our founder, Wally Byam, created a company dedicated to sustainability decades before that concept went mainstream. From the outset, our products have been built to last using durable materials and top-notch craftsmanship. Our ever-evolving design creates vehicles that are both visually iconic and eco-friendly. From the classic “Silver Bullet” design that reduces drag and fuel consumption to the recent implementation of lighter, more sustainable interior materials, Airstream is always looking to reduce our vehicles’ impact on the environment.
The passion that drives Airstream forward lives in our people – the skilled craftsmen who build our units and everyone else who helps move an Airstream from a wish list to a driveway. We cherish this team and strive to support them in every way, from providing opportunities for training and advancement to backing community improvement efforts in our hometown of Jackson Center.
In keeping with our core belief that everyone should have equal access to the joys of outdoor adventure, we are stepping up our efforts to drive change at the campsite. We know that, all too often, the prejudices and inequities that pervade our society keep many from feeling at ease in natural spaces. We’re working to determine how Airstream can best use its resources and influence to help ensure that all people feel welcome, safe, and comfortable in the outdoors.
We at Airstream are proud of our environmental and social responsibility efforts. But we know in our hearts there is more work to be done to protect this beautiful world and bring all its people together in the enjoyment of its wonders. We look forward to sharing that journey with you.
Sincerely,
Bob Wheeler
