Airstream touring coaches have always represented the intersection of performance, comfort, and innovation. Since the first Airstream-designed motorhome rolled off the production line in 1974, Airstream has manufactured the very best motorized RVs on the market.
In Model Year 2026, that tradition of innovation takes a major step forward with the launch of the Advanced Power System — a new standard platform designed to deliver more electrical power, support extended off-grid travel, and streamline energy management on the road.
From fully electric appliances to low-speed charging and expanded battery capacity, the Advanced Power System is a complete solution for modern travelers who expect their coach to keep up with the way they live and explore.

A New Standard in Power and Performance
The Advanced Power System is now standard in the majority of Airstream’s Model Year 2026 lineup of Mercedes-Benz® touring coaches. It includes high capacity lithium batteries, a powerful inverter, solar input with dedicated charge controllers, and integrated energy monitoring.
In most cases, the standard system offers 10.3 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of usable battery capacity. In Atlas 25RT, the Advanced Power System delivers 6.9 kWh of battery capacity. These Advanced Power Systems are capable of powering the air conditioning system for hours and comfortably supports overnight boondocking without relying on shore power or generators.
Models with Advanced Power System with 10.3 kWh battery capacity:
- Atlas 25MS
- Interstate 24GT and Interstate 24GTX
- Interstate 24GL and Interstate 24GLX
- Interstate 19GT and Interstate 19GTX
- Interstate 19X
Models with Advanced Power System with 6.9 kWh battery capacity:
Advanced Power Plus: An Optional Upgrade with Even More Power
For extended trips, the optional Advanced Power Plus upgrade increases battery capacity to 17.2 kWh. This expanded setup supports multi-night off-grid stays and a broader range of energy-intensive use cases.
Advanced Power Plus is available as a factory-installed upgrade on Atlas 25MS, Atlas 25RT, Interstate 24GL and GLX, and 24GT and GTX models. For Interstate 19GT, 19GTX and 19X, the upgrade can be installed by an authorized Airstream dealer.
One Fuel Source for Endless Possibilities
For Model Year 2026, Mercedes-Benz touring coaches adopt a single-fuel energy architecture powered by the diesel fuel already in the vehicle’s tank.
Heating and hot water come from efficient all-in-one comfort systems that deliver consistent interior warmth and on-demand hot water. These systems draw power either from the house battery bank or utilize the fuel in the vehicle’s diesel tank. All other onboard functions — including cooking, air conditioning, and electrical outlets — are fully electric and powered by a high-capacity lithium battery system. This streamlined energy model enhances efficiency, reduces system complexity, and eliminates the need for carrying propane.

Smarter Charging and Solar Integration
To keep energy flowing no matter where you are, the system includes multiple charging methods:
- Low Speed Charging: While the engine is running, the alternator can deliver up to 3,000 watts of charging power. This means you can recharge the batteries even while sitting at a red light or in low-speed, stop-and-go traffic. Getting above a certain speed to begin or maintain charging is no longer a concern.
- Solar Charging: With up to 400 watts of solar input (250 Watts on 19GT and 19X) and MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) solar controllers, the system captures energy efficiently. External solar ports allow for additional portable panel integration.
- Shore Power Charging: Plug into standard AC power to recharge the system in approximately 5 hours (standard) or 9 hours (Advanced Power Plus), depending on battery configuration.
Real-time energy monitoring is available via a touchscreen interface, with optional Bluetooth-enabled app access. You can view charge levels, monitor power draw, and keep tabs on state of charge from inside your coach or while relaxing outside.
