Bobby Puryear and his wife, Arlene, were thrilled to bring home their ninth Airstream since tying the knot 44 years ago. Their 2025 Classic 33FB has all of the bells and whistles they were pining for, including Airstream's new MyAirstream Smart Technology.
But the Puryear’s aren’t just loyal owners. Airstream roots run deep in their family heritage. Bobby’s father owned a 1966 30-foot Airstream Sovereign, introducing Bobby to Airstreaming as a young boy. Regular attendance at their local Airstream Club International events was eventually how Bobby met his wife. Forty-four years and nine Airstreams later, their daughter, Ashleigh, just purchased her first Airstream so that she can pass down the same adventurous childhood that she had, and her grandparents had before her.

MyAirstream’s Non-Negotiable Smart Technology
For Bobby, smart technology is now a travel non-negotiable.
“I will not buy a trailer without it now that I’ve had it,” Bobby says. “It’s a deal killer.”
And his 2025 Airstream Classic is the top-of-the-line when it comes to technology in a travel trailer.
When asked what his favorite feature was, Bobby laughed. “I use all of them. I like gadgets. If I can do it out of my recliner, why get up? The app is easier than the touchscreen!”
With MyAirstream, Bobby can monitor and control his Airstream from just about anywhere, locate and explore 40,000 camping points of interest, find the nearest Airstream dealer, and access dozens of model-specific support articles. The app allows Bobby to adjust the air conditioner or heat pump even when he’s out and about exploring. “If we leave the dog, it’s nice to know if the power goes out,” Bobby said. “We can check on our 10-pound Jack Russell when it’s hot outside and know she’s not getting too hot.”
Bobby noticed quickly that the new smart system allows him to control all of the lights in the trailer – a new feature added to MyAirstream's comprehensive control package. You can turn on the lights before you arrive back home after a long day of adventuring, or from the other side of the travel trailer without stumbling to find the switch in the dark.
As a legacy owner, Bobby was excited that Airstream added Tire Pressure Monitoring as part of the MyAirstream suite of features on his Classic. “It was a pleasant surprise to see Airstream added that, because now you don't have to do an install yourself. I have always added TPMS to my trailers and I didn’t have to do so with this one.”
Remote awning operation has also been helpful for him and his wife while out exploring. “When we go to the Smoky Mountains, storms can roll in quick,” Bobby said. “It’s nice to be able to shut the awning at any time from wherever we are.”
With MyAirstream, Bobby can also turn the vent fans on and off, use the GPS locator to navigate back to his RV, browse the checklists tool to make sure he didn’t forget anything before he takes off down the road, and monitor his battery, propane, and water tank levels. Forty thousand points of interest are also available in the app, making it even easier to explore what’s nearby.

Bobby witnessed the introduction of technology into Airstream’s travel trailer decades ago, and has experienced its continual innovative changes over the years. He has enjoyed each iteration that his particular models have offered as they’ve changed.
MyAirstream is currently available on all Model Year 2025 Classic Models, with plans to be available on additional models in the future. The previous generation of technology – Airstream Smart Control – is currently available and supported in 2019 - 2024 Model Year Airstream Classics and Pottery Barn models.
