Airstream Stands with Victims of the Southern California Wildfires

Airstream-Southern-California-Fire-Response

Alongside the rest of the world, Airstream is watching the horrific and tragic wildfires in Southern California and finding ways to help. For some who've been affected by the fire, their Airstream is a lifeline while they assess the damage and look to rebuild. Learn more about how Airstream is helping fire victims find normalcy and get back on their feet.

Southern California is a place that's near and dear to the Airstream community. From the many owners who've made their homes among the hills, valleys, and beaches to the generations who've road tripped, explored, and made memories in this landscape of golden sunsets, chaparral-strewn hills, and crashing ocean waves, Southern California is a place that calls to travelers. It's the place where – 94 years ago – Airstream founder Wally Byam hung a sign above a Los Angeles warehouse and began building a company from the ground up, promising to make recreational vehicles that flowed down the highway like a stream of air.

In recent weeks, we've watched as Southern California faced devastating wildfires that raced through neighborhoods and left charred cinders in their wake. We've watched as family heirlooms, photo albums, and entire homes have been reduced to ash. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this natural disaster.

In these trying times, we’ve seen remarkable stories of resilience, strength, and hope rising out of the ashes. We’ve heard from Airstream owners who were able to pick up and escape the advancing flames, finding safety and solace in their beloved trailers. We’ve listened to accounts of Airstreams that withstood the blaze even while everything around them succumbed to the fire, standing as a beacon of hope amidst the devastation. And we’ve learned about families using their Airstreams as temporary homes, providing much-needed comfort and stability while they assess the damage and begin the journey to rebuild their lives.

The scale of destruction and drama makes it hard to know where help is needed most and how best to lend a hand. These stories remind us of the true essence of Airstream: it's more than just a way to explore the world—it's a reminder that home is always with you, no matter where you are.

To help those affected by the wildfires regain their sense of home and find some way forward, Airstream is partnering with local Southern California dealers to offer special savings for victims of the recent fire. We hope that by providing mobility, shelter, and a sense of home, we can offer some comfort and relief during these challenging times.
