We have always loved the summer month of June for many reasons, but we love it more now that June has been declared “Great Outdoors Month!” Here at Airstream, we appreciate nature for its breathtaking beauty and the countless opportunities it gives us to live riveted as we travel and explore.
Great Outdoors Month started as Great Outdoors Week under President Clinton in 1998, and it has has grown significantly under both the Bush and Obama administrations. It is now a month-long celebration of the outdoors and all the benefits nature offers - including the annual economic impact of $650 billion nationwide, according to the Great Outdoors Month website.
Almost 900,000 people participated in Great Outdoors Month events last year, and there are even more events to choose from this year! Here are a few events you should be sure to check out:
National Get Outdoors Day: June 13
National Marina Day: June 13
Great Outdoors Month National Day of Service: June 19
Great American Campout: June 27
Get Into Your Sanctuary Day: June 27-28
There is nothing better than spending a day hiking with friends, swimming and kayaking in a beautiful lake or taking in local wildlife at a National Park. Spending time outdoors is good for the body, mind and soul- we feel the most at rest when exploring the natural world around us. We are so lucky to be able to have an abundance of outdoor recreation sites all across this country of ours to explore.
