5 Things To Love About Airstream

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and we want to share about how much we love Airstream trailers!  Check out the list below to see what we love most:

Adventure, anywhere: With an Airstream trailer, you can embark on any adventure you want, anywhere, anytime. Airstreamers travel the country day in and day out to see the best sights, eat the most delicious food and make incredible memories with family and friends. Musician Josh Rogan travels the country in his Airstream to play his music at various gigs, and our friend Andrew Ditton gets to take in the beautiful coast of Scotland in his Airstream trailer. The Live Riveted lifestyle is an exciting one!

Travel trailer technology: We love that Airstream trailers continue to evolve and grow to meet the needs of our customers. We recently launched Quietstream air conditioning technology, specifically designed to cool the trailers with less noise. And our 2015 lineup of trailers features a wide range of models designed to fit your lifestyle. From the luxurious Land Yacht to the lightweight and efficient Sport, we love that our trailers are designed with you in mind.

American-made: Airstream is the quintessential American-made company. Airstream came to Jackson Center, Ohio in 1952 from Los Angeles where they had been made since the late 1920s. Airstream founder Wally Byam wanted to find a Midwest manufacturing location for his business, which was booming after World War II and the Great Depression. The factory in the small town of Jackson Center is the hub of all things Airstream. Our dedicated staff puts together each trailer by hand, including placing all of those rivets. The ongoing expansion project will add approximately 94,000 square-feet to Airstream's existing 134,000 square-foot travel trailer plant located an hour outside of Dayton, Ohio.

History: In 1931, Airstream began with Wally Byam’s dream: “to build a travel trailer that would move like a stream of air, be light enough to be towed by a car, and create first-class accommodations anywhere.” Wally built his first trailer in 1929, which started out as a tent contraption on a model T chassis. Wally eventually replaced the tent with a teardrop-shaped permanent shelter. The design caught the eye of other travelers, so soon after Wally decided he should start his own business and came to found the business we know and love: Airstream, Inc.

Live Riveted Community: Our most favorite thing about Airstream is the Live Riveted Community - the group of unique and adventure-loving people who live each day with purpose. Founder Wally Byam challenged us all “to strive endlessly to stir the venturesome spirit,” and Airstreamers and dreamers alike do just that. We are so thankful for the people who keep this American icon alive and thriving!
