In the Off-Season, It’s All About Family

I’m a blessed man. I get to do what I love every single day. And while you’ll never catch me complaining about it in the slightest, football and the ever-changing storyline each week, makes for a non-stop schedule!

But once the big game is over, my focus completely shifts to one thing: Family. The kids–and the young adults–grow up so fast, and time with them is irreplaceable.

My wife and I have found that traveling is one of our favorite ways to bond with our grandkids, nieces, nephews, and family friends. The trips we take to new places are everything we’ve hoped for, but even the familiar places become more special with family by our side.

That’s why I’m so excited about our new Airstream Interstate Touring Coach. Our grandkids alternate between calling it the “Magic School Bus” and the “Heavenly School Bus,” and no one’s more elated to see it pull up in the driveway than they are.

The best part of our Interstate Lounge is that we each have our own space. The older girls hang out in the back and watch TV. The younger grandkids sit near the front in their captain’s chairs, and my wife and I are at the helm, part of it all.

On board, we have a restroom that helps us tackle frequent pit stops with ease, and a kitchen for snacks and meals on the road. Everybody stays fed, rested, and happy along the way.

It’s such a fun vehicle to drive. Easy to turn, all the safety features you need and then some, good pickup on the road, and a smooth air suspension ride. I have to race my wife to the driver’s seat because she wants to drive it more than me. Truth be told, she’s better at it.

So far, we’ve taken our Lounge on short trips with the grandkids, to North Carolina to visit family and friends. And we have bigger trips planned for Chicago, Philadelphia, New Jersey, even out West. Our good friend Tony Dungy recently did a Yellowstone trip, so we’re going to lean on him to help us plan which national parks to see and map out a cross-country adventure.

We feel like our horizons have broadened already, and we can’t wait to get out there more and more. Off-season will be here soon!
