Professional Wrestler Jessie Kresa loves all things Airstream and loves new experiences, adventures and traveling! After having her 1978 Airstream trailer for a while, she embarked on her first road trip with her Airstream recently to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. This year was the 75th annual rally, where motorcycle enthusiasts travel incredible distances to meet up at this legendary event. Check out Jessie’s experience below!

I said I was going to do it and I did it! I took my first road trip with my ‘78 Airstream trailer and what better way to break it in than at the biggest bike rally, Sturgis! I was lucky enough to be a first time vendor right on main street for the 75th anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. I was promoting my whiskey BBQ and hot sauces. Let me take you through my 2-week experience to Sturgis…

It didn't really hit me that i was going on the road until I was packing up the Airstream and putting on new tires. Of course I packed up the Airstream way too full! With a full Airstream and a big truck to pull my 31-foot trailer, we were off. I had my good friend Lynne come along with me, since she is experienced in towing!

The 9-hour drive went smoothly– we took all back roads to South Dakota. I did check my mirrors every 5 minutes to make sure my Airstream was still there, and every bump of course made me sweat a little. As we were getting closer to Sturgis, it started to down pour. Oh boy that was fun! Right when we got into Sturgis it cleared up luckily. We had finally made it! We got to our campground The Broken Spoke, a 600-acre campground. We then settled in and popped open a bottle or two of champagne: we did it!

2 weeks of being a vendor in Sturgis comprised 13-hour days of selling your brand and product. It sure tuckered me out! Having my Airstream there with me made it all worth it, though. I loved coming home every night and hanging with my new RV friends from Canada, Denise and Waldo. The whole campground feel makes me feel like I am at home. I could definitely get used to this!

At the end of my time at Sturgis, I didn't want to leave. I even stayed an extra day when the campground was empty. But the time came to pack up and head back to Minnesota. The ride home also went smoothly! It took a little longer to get home, and we had to stop at the big tourist trap Wall Drug. Once I made it back home, I knew I was addicted to being on the road with my Airstream. I am so happy I took my first journey that I already have more trips coming up. I would like to thank the Airstream community– without everyone, I wouldn't have done this. I love reading about everyone's adventures in their Airstreams! Stay tuned for more of my Airstream journey!
