Best Halloween Festivals

Fall is an awesome time of the year all over the country.  From fright nights to harvest festivals, states hold a variety of seasonal events perfect for a fall adventure.  We wanted to find the best of the best for Airstreamers both on the road and at home.  Check out these 5 festivals for a great way to Live Riveted this fall:

-In the haunting town of Salem, Mass., The Salem Witches’ Halloween Ball is the main of event of the city’s Festival of the Dead.  The town is infamous for its Salem witch trials and attracts visitors from all over the nation.  The Halloween Ball caps off a month of festivities ranging from a Psychic Fair and Dinner with the Dead to a Witchcraft Expo and Ghost Hunting 101.  The theme for this year is Voodoo Visions, so grab your spookiest costume to celebrate Halloween at one of America’s most bewitching cities!

-Traveling near southern California? Be sure to make a stop at Knott’s Scary Farms in Buena Park, CA.  This berry farm becomes a hideaway for spooky monsters and chilling mazes on its “160 acres of horror.”  The farm’s slogan becomes “Walk In, Freak Out” as guests explore 11 attractions, 13 rides and four different scare zones.  If you plan in advance, you can purchase a skeleton key to skip the lines and unlock special rooms.  For those who love to be scared, add Knott’s Scary Farms to your Halloween to-do list!

-From November 6 to 8, the small town of Nassau, DE, becomes the sight for one of the largest fall festivals in the nation, the World Championship Punkin’ Chunkin’ competition.  Can you imagine pumpkins soaring through the sky thousands of feet above your head?  That is exactly what happens at the Punkin’ Chunkin’ competition.  Whether you want to join the ranks of more than 100,000s spectators or test our your own pumpkin throwing ability, this fall festival is one the entire family will enjoy.

-Nestled next to the Columbia River, the Hood River County Harvest brings old-fashioned fall fun to life in their yearly festival.  Visitors flock to this Oregon city to stock up on local produce, jams and homemade pies.  The festival attracts local and regional artists to showcase wood sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, fiber art and more.  Are your children joining this Live Riveted adventure? The kid’s zone provides child-friendly entertainment while parents taste seasonal wine, beer and cider to the sounds of live music.  The Hood River County Harvest is one autumn festival you will not want to miss!

-Want to join more than 50,000 people on one of the most popular parades in the country?  Head over to New York City’s 41st Annual Village Halloween Parade!  On Halloween night, anyone in costume is welcome to join the festivities and celebrate on the streets of West Village.  The parade is packed with bands, dancers, puppets, artists and wildly creative costumes.  If you would rather watch the festivities from afar, the parade is televised on local stations all over the country.
