Happy September, everyone! While the lazy summer months might be over, kids are heading back to school and the temperatures are slowly cooling off, that doesn’t mean Live Riveted adventures have to stop! Labor Day is just around the corner, so today we want to inspire you to hit the road and enjoy some rest and relaxation with friends and family this holiday weekend.
Hit the beach: Soak in the remaining warm weather before the chill sets in and travel to the beach this Labor Day weekend. Head way down south to Miami and take in the sights and sounds of South Beach– the sparkling blue waters, art deco buildings and surfside nightclubs are sure to keep you busy! If you prefer a more relaxed beach trip, journey to the quaint towns of Seaside, Florida, where families from all over flock to the picturesque town to take in the beachy paradise. While you are there, be sure to venture to downtown Seaside to take in the vintage Airstream food trucks! For a west coast beach retreat, we recommend heading to Washington State to check out all the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Head to Obstruction Pass State Park (Orcas Island) or Deception Pass State Park Beaches (Whidbey Island) for a few days of fun filled with exploring nature and sea-kayaking.
Head to a big city: Take advantage of Labor Day weekend and plan a big-city adventure! We recommend visiting our nation’s capital Washington D.C. to take in the National Monument or the Lincoln Memorial. Tour Arlington and be sure to hit up some museums like the Newseum for a fun afternoon activity! Spending Labor Day weekend in the Windy City could also be a great destination if you are wanting to explore a bigger city. Visit Wrigley Field and shop along Madison Avenue for a weekend to remember!
Explore a national park: There is no better way to welcome in fall than with a trip to a national park. Whether you venture to a park for just for a day if you are close by or spend a weekend camping in the woods, the time you spend in nature will certainly rejuvenate you! We are fond of Yellowstone National Park– be sure to go see Old Faithful and Mammoth Hot Springs. Or you can head to the Appalachian Trail for a hiking adventure. For an east coast trip, we suggest heading to Maine’s rugged coast to take in the coastal beauty of Acadia National Park.
