Highlighting the Luxurious 2020 Airstream Atlas

Our largest touring coach gets even more luxurious amenities and upgrades in 2020

The Airstream Atlas wasn’t just born out of decades of designing premium motor coaches. The design of Airstream’s largest touring coach incorporates nearly a century of proving that comfort, convenience, luxury, adventure and travel should not be mutually exclusive. After years of building the best Class B coach on the market – the Airstream Interstate – the Atlas hit the market with the same thoughtful and meticulous design and craftsmanship.

The all-new 2020 Airstream Atlas boasts not only the very best that Airstream has to offer, but also the very best of Mercedes-Benz. Built on the brand new 3500 Sprinter Mercedes-Benz chassis, the Atlas leaves little to be desired in safety and performance. Offered with no options – that’s right, all standard, no options – the Atlas is the most luxurious Class B+ van on the market today.

Exterior Styling

At first glance, the Atlas body appears to be one solid shell. With no visible seams, and no unsightly trim to conceal poor workmanship, the Atlas’ body-styling sets the standard for motor coaches, and aesthetically outperforms even much more costly Class A units. The automotive-grade paint work is carefully applied and intensely checked for quality. With over 100 man hours alone, the Atlas paint system and body styling is breathtaking. Sleek designs along with maximum functionality – that’s been the Airstream way for nearly 90 years.

Airstream Atlas Exterior

Elsewhere, the gorgeous Alcoa rims shimmer in the sunlight. The Mercedes-Benz tail-light system – expertly installed by Airstream along with Airstream lettering and badging on the exterior – add a touch of class. Parktronic sensors installed on the exterior of the Atlas, along with a rear back up camera and side view cameras integrated into the mirrors, mean that you can park and maneuver with confidence in this 24’ 9” luxury-condo-on-wheels.

The spacious exterior storage compartments have motion sensor lights installed, so there’s no more fumbling around in the dark looking for your things or trying to hold a flashlight while you rummage with one hand. And, once your items are carefully stowed away, simply lock the exterior storage units with the push of a button on your key-fob. You’ll always have peace of mind knowing your belongings are safely stowed. The culmination of these little touches and thoughtful improvements are what set the Atlas apart from the rest of the field.

To top off the exterior style of this unit, there is an outside shower connection with hot and cold water, and – for the less than desirable job of emptying the waste tank – Airstream has even included a retractable waste hose. For perhaps the first time, the “dirty” but necessary job of emptying the black tank is not only tolerable but simple and clean.

Without even stepping foot inside the plush and richly appointed interior, the Airstream Atlas is already head and shoulders above any competitor.

Interior Elegance

The moment the fold-away steps drop down in front of you with the opening of the side door, you know that you are about to enter a luxury coach. Gripping the heavy-duty, back-lit exterior handle and crossing the threshold from exterior to interior, your feet are greeted by the luxury woven flooring, laid over a comfortable rubber membrane. No, you aren’t in a private jet, you haven’t stepped foot onto a multi-million dollar yacht, and you aren’t dreaming: You are just beginning to experience the opulence of the Airstream Atlas. Your hands can’t help but touch the soft and supple ultra-leather seats, which are the perfect place to recharge after a day of hiking and taking in the sights.

Looking around the spacious coach, you begin to see the small details, and the thoughtful design, that all make up the Atlas.

The Cockpit

Starting at the front of the van, a beautiful dash holds state-of-the-art technology. The Mercedes MBUX system (with a 10.25” touch screen), controls built into the steering wheel, and power seats are just the beginning. With all these luxuries coming standard, there’s no need to look through a list and decide what safety and convenience features you deserve. Airstream believes that safety and comfort should always be standard and never an option.

Airstream Atlas Cockpit

Charging ports, convenient cup holders, vanity mirrors, hide-away storage built into the dash, and elegant and clean lines across all finishes and seams, you would swear you are inside a luxury sedan cockpit. The rear camera monitor – installed where you are accustomed to finding the rear-view mirror – shows you a wide-angle view of what lies behind you, bringing the comfort level for driving this rig even higher.

The Living Area

The electric swivel chairs spin around and you begin to take in the Murphy Suite portion of the coach. The sofa, covered with ultra-leather, faces a hide-away flat-screen television. With the push of a button, the tv and accompanying Bose soundbar rises from the solid-surface countertop. Electronic, reclining seats with built-in footrests allow you to find the perfect position to settle in for a movie night (or leave the TV retracted and watch the sunset through the window and accordion-style screen door).

When it’s time to turn in, the Murphy bed with the incredible Froli mattress system easily pulls down using the sofa as its base to become your own personal retreat. Airstream knows the value of a good night of sleep, and with the Froli mattress system you will be dreaming of adventure in no time. Don’t be hassled with inflatable mattresses that are sure to deflate, or thin, uncomfortable pads where other manufacturers have cut corners to save cost. Without sleep, any adventure or trip can quickly be soured, but with the Atlas Murphy Suite and Froli mattress system you never need worry about that. With the slide out retracted, the 73”x73” mattress fits nicely in the coach without extending the slide-out. Want a little more room to maneuver inside the coach? With the simple press of a button the slide-out extends, creating an aisle way that allows you to move about more freely in the coach’s living space.

Airstream Atlas Bed

Above the bed you’ll find a skylight with insect screen and privacy shade. It’s the perfect way to allow some fresh air in the cabin without inviting in any unwanted guests. Reading lights, cubby-holes built into the sidewalls, and convenient places to charge your devices are just the icing on the cake at this point.

The Galley

What is any luxury touring coach without a luxury galley? Complete with a deep, stainless steel sink, residential-style faucet, solid surface countertops and storage compartments expertly and smartly placed everywhere, this galley would satisfy most any chef. Opposite the deep sink, you’ll find the 9.1 cu ft. deep storage compressor refrigerator, the freezer below, and the convection microwave oven above provide all you could ever want in a galley tucked inside an easily driven and parked Class B+ RV.

If the chef happens to leave the shallots simmering a bit too long, the Fantastic Fan in the galley has been designed to move a maximum amount of air efficiently and quietly. With rain sensors built in and variable speed fan and temperature control, you are always just moments away from the perfect temperature – or from ridding the cabin of any remnants of an overcooked dish.

The Lavy

At Airstream, one of the first obstacles to overland travel we overcame was the onboard lavy. With a 3-piece, residential style bathroom that spans the entire rear of the coach, this lavatory would put most apartment facilities to shame.

Airstream Atlas Lavy

From the spacious full-sized shower with wood inlays to the porcelain commode, no detail was neglected. Roomy, cedar-lined wardrobes and cabinets line the bathroom walls, and the solid wood sliding door creates the perfect space to prepare for whatever the day may bring.

As you walk into the Airstream Atas, the comfort and richness of the coach is absolutely stunning, but the size and the beauty of the lavatory is absolutely astounding.

The Details

Three-hundred watts of solar panels are installed standard on every Atlas. Also standard on every Atlas is VB air suspension. Why bother making a touring coach if the ride is unbearable? Airstream knows there’s only one way to do things, and that’s the right way. Ducted air conditioning: standard. The ultra quiet 3.2 kw Onan diesel generator connected to the same diesel tank for the coach: standard. Powered awning with seismic sensors and auto retract: You guessed it, standard. Pre-wired for satellite and for 5g connectivity, standard.

All of this and the ability to tow up to 5000 lbs. You’ll have little reason to go home other than to get your mail.

The Airstream Atlas isn’t just another motorhome built on a Mercedes chassis. It's simply the best motorhome ever built on a Mercedes chassis. For those that desire to travel in pure comfort, for those that know that only the best will do, and for those who don’t wish to sacrifice convenience or safety when they travel, the choice is clear: The Airstream Atlas is the premier Class B+ touring coach on the market.

Words are powerful and informative. It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so imagine how much you’ll have to say when you see the Airstream Atlas for yourself. Imagine how much your friends and family will have to say when you send them a picture of your maiden voyage in your brand new Atlas.

Airstream didn’t invent exploration and travel, we just added comfort and luxury – and then perfected it.
