iPhone Photo Tips

There are countless Airstreamers who adamantly believe fall is the best time to travel. Each state offers its own unique beauty, and leaves become a range of colors. Around every corner is a picture perfect view. We know technology allows us to quickly document the scenery around us, but are you using your iPhone to its greatest capability? We’re here to share the top 5 tricks to iPhone photography for your Live Riveted adventures.

  • Always zoom with your feet. The iPhone zoom is a great concept, but it does not allow photographers the best quality images. Instead of using your zoom function to get a closeup of leaves, try moving over to the object. It may be a bit awkward if you are trying to subtly take photos, but we promise the quality will be worth it.
  • Take a tip from photographers, and use the rule of thirds. This rule is one of the first things photography students learn. When taking a photo, turn on the iPhone’s grid. It is available under the options button on the camera’s main screen. When taking a photo, try lining up the image along the intersecting lines. This age old photography trick works based on human’s natural instinct to look at intersection points first. Learn more here!
  • Don’t forget to stabilize your camera. The small size of iPhones are great for a Live Riveted lifestyle and capturing moments on the go. However, taking photos with one hand can leave the pictures a little blurry. If you use two hands and rest your arms on your body for stabilization, we guarantee you will be one step closer professional looking photos.
  • Turn on the HDR setting. Many are familiar with these letters, but few know how to use it. This setting can be found at the top of your camera screen. When the HDR is on, it takes three photos at once and stitches these photos on top of each other. It a great for capturing fall foliage, for layers the highlights and shadows of the image into one photo. This is where it’s extra important to stabilize your arms, as the photos can be blurry if you move.
  • Filters are great, but being unique is even better. Filters can bring out autumn’s colors and show off your Airstream’s background. However, many people use the same filtering apps, so photos use their unique touch. Try combining different filtering apps, such as VSCO Cam, Google Snapseed and Afterlight, to make your photos stand out from the crowd.

If you keep these 5 tricks in mind, your photos will be sure to capture the beauty of a Live Riveted lifestyle. Do you have any tips for other Airstreamers when capturing photos of their adventures?
