National parks are some of the United States’ greatest treasures. In 1872, President Ulysses S. Grant signed the act that established Yellowstone as the nation’s first national park. Sequoia and Yosemite followed, both established as national parks in 1890.
Today, a total of 84.9 million acres has been designated as national park land, which accounts for approximately 3.6 percent of all land in the United States. There are 58 different national parks in the U.S., and we at Airstream love that we have so many incredible national parks to visit. National parks allow us to take in our country’s beautiful natural landscape and take part in outdoor activities that we will remember for a lifetime.

Theodore Roosevelt Park in North Dakota is the perfect place to explore the vast prairies that the former president once enjoyed. The park’s trails are even open to horses—this national park is a great destination for those wanting to experience the wild badlands on horseback.
Many people make the mistake of simply peering over the Grand Canyon Rim when in Arizona, but we suggest rafting the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon National Park. You can float down the river on half- or full-day trips or head out on longer excursions ranging from three to 18 days.
Yosemite National Park in California is a great national park for camping in your Airstream. This park has 10 different campsites available with incredible views of towering rock formations and access to hiking trails to the Lower and Upper Yosemite Falls.
Yellowstone National Park spreads out over 2.2 million acres through Wyoming, Montana and Idaho and is the perfect place for viewing wildlife with the whole family. While in Yellowstone, keep an eye out for bison, elk and even grizzly bears. Make sure to experience the famous geyser Old Faithful while in Yellowstone as well.
