Tour the Basecamp® Wet Bath

Airstream Basecamp Wet Bath

Yes, the Basecamp does have a bathroom. And it’s full of clever choices to keep you, your gear, and your trailer clean.

The Airstream Basecamp is our smallest and most rugged travel trailer – ready to head off the beaten path or off the grid whenever you are. Every area of the interior is designed to make efficient use of the space so that the trailer stays small and lightweight enough to tow with an SUV. And that includes the RV wet bath.

What’s a “wet bath”?

A wet bath is a bathroom that’s designed to get wet from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. If you’ve spent time in Europe, you might be familiar with this concept inside hotels and homes. An RV wet bath combines toilet and shower features into one compact space, conserving room in the overall RV floor plan for other functions.

The Basecamp Shower

When you open the door to the Basecamp bathroom, you’ll see the removable showerhead on the left-hand wall. The hot and cold water controls are below, near the drain. And to the right, you’ll find a body wash, shampoo, and conditioner caddy that keeps your essentials on the wall and out of the way, yet easy to reach.

Before starting the shower, close the bathroom door and turn both latches on the door to seal the space. Once you do that, water can splash anywhere in the bathroom – it’s all designed to get wet.

The Outdoor Shower Passthrough

If you’d like to shower outside in the fresh air or rinse off your gear after a long day in the mud, you’ll love the outdoor passthrough. Near the shower floor is a rectangular door that locks from the outside.

Inside, you can take the showerhead off of its holder on the wall, pass it through to the outside, and use it just like you would inside.

The Toilet and Toilet Paper Cover

Like all Airstream Travel Trailers, the Basecamp comes with a porcelain Dometic toilet. The best part? You flush it with your foot by pressing on the paddle. And if you were wondering how the toilet paper stays dry while you’re showering, we’ve included a waterproof toilet paper cover that rotates over the roll.

Drying Towels and Clothes

The Basecamp bathroom comes with a towel bar mounted to the back wall, plus a retractable clothesline that spans the space when extended. Simply pull the line to the other side of the bathroom and latch it in. It’s perfect for drying bathing suits, towels, or even gear that got wet during the day.
