A Spotlight on the Airstream Globetrotter

Airstream Globetrotter 30RB Interior RV Travel Trailer

Defining the spirit of adventure and European design with the Globetrotter Travel Trailer

Whether your adventures take you near or far, the Airstream Globetrotter® has every amenity you need to feel at home. Comfort, convenience, technology, entertainment, and style – all wrapped in an American icon with a European twist.

A Historical Nod in True Airstream Fashion

Where would we be without our storied history of journeys around the world? The name “Globe Trotter” appeared on the 22’ Liner that Wally Byam and Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr. used on their 1948 European Tour. This was the first of many trips to Europe for Wally where he was often inspired by European trailer design and innovations. Airstream launched the first Globetrotter in the late 40s as a 22 foot model that could “go anywhere an automobile can go and still have the facilities of comfortable living.” Today’s Globetrotter lineup is sleek, stylish, and leads its class in top-of-the-line modern design.

Globetrotter-Overview-Features-ModernRevival

Available in four different lengths, eight floor plans, and four interior decor options, there’s no shortage of first-class selection when it comes to this design-forward travel trailer. Follow along as we go through the details of the upscale amenities and thoughtful design that went into the 23’, 25’, 27’, and 30’ Globetrotter family.

Unquestionably Premium Features are the Standard

Similar to the Classic, Globetrotter was engineered to include every comfort of home without having to consider a list of options. Premium features like DuPont Corian countertops, domestic faucets, award-winning upholstery, exceptional visual and audio systems, and powered equipment like the awning and stabilizer jacks make it seamless to get a top-of-the-line experience because these features come standard. We’ll cover the optional features as we explore each individual floor plan.

23’ Globetrotter Travel Trailer

Exterior Style: 23 ft. 9 in. of Spectacle

Other than the aluminum, one of the first things to notice about the 23' Globetrotter are the 12 windows and skylights that let light come in from every angle. Watch a magical sunrise from the comfort of bed through the panoramic window or view the ocean tide roll in and out from the dinette while sipping coffee. Just because it's the shortest of the Globetrotter family doesn't mean it lacks anything the larger models have. Simply tap a few buttons to extend and retract the powered awning and stabilizer jacks when setting up or departing from a campsite and then sit back and relax. Airstream Globetrotter 23FB Twin Travel Trailer Curb Side

23’ Front Queen Bed

The 23FB features a full rear-spanning bathroom, convertible dinette, and queen (all Globetrotter queen beds are 60” x 75”) bed at the front of the trailer with space to walk completely around. After switching the cushions around on the dinette, this model can comfortably sleep 2 adults and 2 children (4 people). Learn more about the 23FB here.

23’ Front Twin Beds

The 23FB Twin features the same full rear-spanning bathroom, convertible dinette, and has two twin (all Globetrotter twin beds are 34” x 80”) beds at the front of the trailer with a walk-way in between them. This extra space creates more room, makes the floor plan feel extended, and offers the opportunity to create a lounging space during the day that doesn't always have to feel like a permanent bed. 23’ Optional Features

  • A convection microwave is an optional feature to offer more personal preference based on your cooking habits. The convection microwave replaces the gas oven.
  • Add 90 watts (One 90-watt panel) of rooftop solar power and keep the onboard batteries charged.

25’ Globetrotter

Spacious Living Area: Bump to 8' 5.5" Exterior Width

Other than the somewhat obvious fact that the 25' Globetrotter is about 2 feet longer than the 23', there's what some would consider a more important measurement that you may not realize until you step inside - exterior width. Compared to the 8' exterior width of the 23FB, the 25' models measure at 8' 5.5" which really opens up the living space and makes the entire cabin feel more airy. It's not something that pictures or dimensions can really explain but it's nice to know when you're jumping between models trying to figure out what you like versus what you love. 25’ Front Queen Bed

The 25FB floor plan configuration is very different from that of the 23’ lengths and it all comes down to personal preference. While the model specs will tell you they only differ by about 2 feet of space, the dining, storage, bathroom, and cooking spaces are found in different areas of the trailer which also means the windows are configured differently. Just inside the door you’ll find the convertible lounge and dinette with a panoramic view, a full kitchen, and a hallway with the restroom, shower and storage closets. At the end of that hallway is the master bedroom, complete with a queen bed, HD TV on an articulating arm mount, overhead storage with under-mounted lighting, and bedside stand. Learn more about the 25FB here.

25’ Front Twin Beds

The 25FB Twin features the same convertible lounge and dinette with a panoramic view, a full kitchen, and a hallway with the restroom, shower and storage closets, but at the end of that hallway is a master bedroom with separated twin beds. As with the 23FB, this extra walkway opens up the space, puts the nightstand in between the beds with more storage, and also creates an outside storage option that doesn't exist on the queen bed floor plans. It's not only something to consider when deciding between the queen and twin options, it's also a quick way to identify which model you're looking at (take a peek behind the aluminum propane cover to see the extra storage door). 25’ Optional Features

  • A convection microwave is an optional feature to offer more personal preference based on your cooking habits. Similar to the 23' model, the convection microwave replaces the gas oven.
  • Add 180 watts (Two 90-watt panels) of rooftop solar power and keep the onboard batteries charged.
  • Add a second air conditioner (AC) with heat pumps to give control over two different zones. This upgrades the 30 AMP electrical service needed for a single AC to a 50 AMP service for dual air condition and heat pump use.

27’ Globetrotter

The First and Far From Last

Back in October of 2017 we introduced the first model of the revived Globetrotter lineup and it's a still fan favorite to this day. The crisp, modern lines, sophisticated fabrics, and luxurious finishes became the picture of irresistible comfort and style. Coming in at exactly 28' in exterior length, this model meets the needs of the Airstreamer who is looking for the perfect combination of luxury and space. With a GVWR of 7,600 lbs., the 27' matches well with a lot of vehicles that people already have, so there's less need to go out and purchase a brand new vehicle to safely pull it. It's also important to note (for both 27FB models) where the extra space is made up between how the 25FB is laid our versus what is bigger in the 27' floor plans. While comparing images side by side or taking a walk-through at a dealer, take a close look at the size differences between the kitchen countertop space, the kitchen pantry, and the hallway closet/wardrobe as decisions like these will help match the right travel trailer to your lifestyle needs.

27’ Front Queen Bed

The 27FB floor plan is generally quite similar to the 25FB, but with some important differences that should be considered if you're thinking about joining the Airstream life. First and foremost is the position of the queen bed. Notice how in the 25FB the queen bed is facing a different direction (vertical) and in the 27FB it's "squared up" in the middle (horizontal) of the travel trailer. The configuration allows for two bedside stands and plentiful storage under the mattress which is also accessible from the exterior door. Learn more about the 27FB here.

27’ Front Twin Beds

As with the other queen to twin bed configurations across the lineup, there's not much to debate between these two floor plans other than a personal preference about how to best use the master bedroom space. The standalone differences are the amount of storage space that is accessible from the front access door and the hanging wardrobes at the foot of the twin beds. Learn more about the 27FB Twin here.

27’ Optional Features

  • A convection microwave is again an optional feature to offer more personal preference based on your cooking habits. Unlike the 23' and 25' models, the 27' comes standard with a microwave and gas oven. The microwave covertly slides out of the kitchen pantry and the oven stays in its normal location. If the choice is made to upgrade to a convention oven it replaces the spot of the gas oven and the space where the microwave was becomes additional storage in the pantry.

30’ Globetrotter

The Latest, The Longest

In September of 2019, we expanded the Globetrotter family to include a 30' floor plan. The all-new Globetrotter 30 floor plans feature the same crisp, modern lines and sophisticated accents found throughout the rest of the lineup, but with even more features to make it comfortable and stand out from the pack. Measuring in at an exterior length of 30' 11", this travel trailer offers a respectable difference when considering living and storage space. Featuring a refreshed convertible dinette, new wrap-around lounge, the largest refrigerator available in any Airstream, and a whopping 22 windows throughout the cabin - this travel trailer is unlike anything we've manufactured before. Other than materials, fixtures, and decor, this model is completely unique.

30’ Rear Queen Bed

By being so different than the other front bed models, this 30' rear queen bed configuration is a whole new take on Globetrotter living arrangements. As you step through the front door you instantly recognize the wide open space with light pouring in through the giant windows, but also the ability to move around even as others are seated around the wrap-around lounge. The convertible dinette acts as both the table and support when made into a bed (pull out lounge). Depending on the need, the dinette can easily be removed to allow even more flexibility throughout the space if you're having a social gathering or doing yoga. 30’ Rear Twin Beds

As with the other Globetrotters (and most other Airstream travel trailers), the twin bed configuration switches out the queen for two separate sleeping mattresses. The benefits are longer beds, hanging wardrobes at the foot of the beds, and a center nightstand with storage drawers. Learn more about the 30RB Twin.

30’ Optional Features

  • A convection microwave is once again an optional feature to offer more personal preference based on your cooking habits. As with the 27', the 30' Globetrotter comes standard with a standard microwave and gas oven. The microwave subtly slides out of the kitchen pantry and the oven stays in its normal location. If the choice is made to upgrade to a convention oven it replaces the spot of the gas oven and the space where the microwave was becomes additional storage in the pantry.
  • Add 180 watts (Two 90-watt panels) of rooftop solar power and keep the onboard batteries charged.

Four Modern Decors

If there’s one thing that truly separates the Globetrotter from the rest of the Airstream family, it’s the interior styling and decor. Choose between 4 décor choices: London Grey, Barcelona Blue (both in light elm) and Dublin Slate and Copenhagen Cream (both in dark walnut).
