Twin Beds Now an Option for International and Flying Cloud 23FB Floor Plans

Introducing 2023 model year updates by announcing the addition of twin bed options for International and Flying Cloud 23FB floor plans

With each model year comes product innovations and the evolution of an iconic travel trailer line that has been around since the 1930’s. While the times might have changed, the principle of “not making changes, only improvements”, has been the standpoint and guiding light for the company to this day. Airstream founder Wally Byam would take notes while traveling and send them back to headquarters. Wally’s experiences on the road served as the basis for product development and we maintain this precedent today by having an entire community of dedicated Airstream owners, dealerships, and groups such as the Customer Council providing feedback on what could inform improved design and functionality of the iconic Silver Bullet Airstream.

The 2023 model year travel trailers begin production in July of 2022 in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Jackson Center, Ohio. Did you know the factory is open to the public and you can book a tour to see how each Airstream travel trailer is made? While you’re here, you can also explore the nearly 100 year history of the company throughout the Heritage Center.

What’s New For Travel Trailer Model Year 2023?

While we’ll be making exciting model year announcements over the next couple of months, the first chapter includes the introduction of twin beds as an option for the International and Flying Cloud 23FB floor plans.

The 23FB floor plan is the shortest Airstream that includes dual axles and is also the longest layout that comes in what we refer to as the narrow body style (8ft. exterior width) — making it unique amongst the Silver Bullet lineup. This small and “just right” floor plan is one of our most popular options and includes all of the features that make adventuring in an Airstream something to remember.

Here's few reasons the 23FB floor plan is a fan favorite.

The Flying Cloud interior is bright and inviting. The neutral pallette offers the ability to create your own design touches and works well with a variety of complementary colors and patterns if you’d like to consistently upgrade bedding and other soft goods.

Queen Bed vs Twin Bed Configuration

In almost all cases, owners can choose between the queen bed or a twin bed configuration in the master bedroom. Having a hard time choosing which one might be right for you? The first step is understanding that Airstreams come in all shapes and sizes and that sleeping capacity can change quite a bit. You’ll need to generally know how many explorers are coming along and who is going to be using the master bedroom. Step two is knowing how you’re going to use the interior space and thinking about life inside the aluminum shell.

Queen Bed

The 23FB pillow top memory foam queen mattress is 60” x 75” and is rotated 90° from where the queen beds are placed in larger floor plan such as the 25FB and longer, placing the head of the bed towards the street side of the travel trailer.

The queen configuration offers the ability to walk all the way around the bed, a nightstand on the far side, and views out the panoramic windows every morning when you wake up.

Twin Beds

By opting for the twin bed configuration, the center aisle is completely opened up — creating more physical moving space and also creating the illusion that the floor plan looks much longer.

With a few pillows and blankets, the separate beds can also function as day beds or lounges while watching TV or getting caught up on work emails. Wondering if you might be too tall for the 75” queen bed? With the twin mattress measuring in at 5” longer than the queen, it may be a great option for you.
